Kurt’s Army💚
Massillon Intermediate School student, Kurt Romar, is courageously fighting a battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and started another round of treatment yesterday.
Members of our Gorrell staff and Administrative Office staff wore shirts to encourage him on his journey yesterday. Pictured are Gorrell staff members with Kurt’s little sister, Olivia.

Last week, Mrs. Hissner and Miss Rodak’s classes teamed up with Occupational Therapist, Ms. Friedel to spread some warmth and cheer! They delivered hot chocolate to our MMS teachers who placed orders!
With options like chocolate chips, peppermints and marshmallows, it was a cozy treat made and delivered with love!❤️☕️
It was the perfect was to brighten everyone’s day!🌟

Massillon Intermediate School's leading readers had a chance to visit and read to Scarlett, a therapy dog recently!🐶📚
Massillon Junior High School teacher, Mrs. Stutzman, is Scarlett's owner!

History comes to life in Mrs. Arner's classroom!🖋️📜
Our Tigers recently dove into history with hands-on activities inspired by Pilgrims and the Wampanoag:
-Quill Writing: Students made ink from berries, salt, and vinegar and wrote just like Pilgrims might have.
-Pictograph Sentences: On “rawhide” paper, they created stories inspired by the Wampanoag and their famous wampum beads.
-Butter Churning & Bread Baking: They churned butter by shaking cream in jars, then enjoyed it on fresh bread they baked together!

Gobble, gobble!🦃🧡
Have a great Thanksgiving, Tigers! We will see you on Tuesday, December 3rd!

Mrs. Regener’s class wrapped up their final session of The Science of Sound with Stark Arts musician, Patrick Masalko!
From exploring how light and sound travel to discovering how energy transforms, students dove into the fascinating connections between music and science.🎸🥁 They got to examine instruments up close, crafted their own using recycled materials, and learned how our bodies and Earth’s resources work together to create the magic of music.🌍✨

Game On in 5th Grade!📚🎲
Students in Mrs. Hummel and Mr. Lutton's classes combined creativity, math, and reading to design board games inspired by the novels they’ve been diving into. Their games featured math challenges like adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimals as the key to success!
They had a blast testing out their creations! Way to go, 5th graders, for turning math and literature into an adventure! 🐯✨

Show up and Shine: Tuesday Attendance Time!⏰
📸At Gorrell Elementary, they use the Zones of Regulation as part of the PBIS framework to help students manage their emotions and energy levels. By categorizing feelings into color codes zones, students build self awareness and develop strategies to thrive! To bring this lesson to life, they paired it with a discussion about feelings using the movie "Inside Out"!
📸Meanwhile, in Mr. Dobransky's class, they celebrated Fall with a day of pumpkins and apples!
These experiences make school special - connecting learning with fun memories you won't want to miss!
