Mark Fortner has been the Assistant Superintendent for the Massillon City Schools for 11 years. He worked as the Principal of Massillon Washington High School from 2001 – 2007. His career began in Massillon in 1999, when he was hired as the Principal at L.J. Smith Elementary.
Fortner’s career in education spans almost three decades, having taught high school mathematics and science at several districts in Stark County. Fortner also served as an athletic director for the Fairless Local Schools. He has coached many extracurricular activities including football, track, basketball, and gymnastics.
Fortner received his bachelor’s degree in education and mathematics from The University of Akron. He also received a master’s degree in school administration from Ashland University.
