An idea which originated in "Dear Abby" was brought to life by the MMS seventh and eighth grade classes. After discussing the importance of Veterans' Day, students were given large stars to decorate in a patriotic theme of red, white and blue. The students were then asked to interview their parents, grandparents, relatives and friends who may have served in a branch of the armed services. With the information in hand, the students then placed the name of the veteran, their branch of service, location of service, and any other pertinent information they learned about the veteran on their star.

These stars were then used to adorn a 10x13' replica of the United State flag. The flag and a banner stating "Honoring Our Veterans" was hung up in the main hallway outside the cafeteria. The response from the students and teachers at MMS was overwhelming! What a great way to honor our American heroes!
