Under the direction of Social Studies teacher Mrs. Monica Shrader, Emma Stine won at the local level for her poster entry, Preserving America's Past. Her poster depicted scenes from America; the Right to Vote, Abolishment of Slavery, the 4th of July and Independence, the first Moon Walk, the beauty of the mountains and the National Parks system, and the symbol of our country the American Eagle.
Bryan Wuske won for his stamp design at the local level, the state level, and then received Honorable Mention at the National Level. He was honored at a luncheon at the State House in Early April which he attended with his mother Linda Wuske (a teacher with the Massillon City School District). Bryan's stamp depicted the Constitution complete with the Preamble, numbered articles, signatures, pen and ink.
Both students along with their teacher were recognized at the DAR meeting on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in North Canton. Following the presentation of winners both students received an small American Flag in a stand along with a certificate and a monetary award.
