Massillon, OH – (November 19, 2015) – John Paquelet was named to fill the open position on the Massillon City Schools Board of Education at the board work session on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The appointment of Paquelet comes after the resignation of Gary Miller.
“The whole process has been a very humbling experience,” said Paquelet. “A position on the school board provides a way to bring positive influence and ideas to the community.”
Paquelet is a 1988 graduate of Massillon’s Washington High School.
In addition to Paquelet, Thomas F. Radel Jr. will officially join the Massillon City Schools Board of Education in January, replacing Mike Slater.
Former Board of Education Vice President Ron Pribich will take over the office of president from Miller until the next organizational meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5. At this time, the new board will have a chance to reorganize and elect a new president and vice president.
“I would like to officially welcome John Paquelet to the Massillon City Schools Board of Education,” said Superintendent Richard Goodright. “As a district, we look forward to his insight and leadership. I would also like to welcome Thomas Radel and say thank you to departing board members Gary Miller and Mike Slater for their service and dedication to the students of the Massillon Schools. We look forward to our continued work with the board to make Massillon an even greater school district.”
