Seven Massillon Washington High School Students Represented at Buckeye Girls/Boys State

American Legion Girls State and American Legion Boys State are once in a lifetime experiences which allow students to represent their school during a week-long program designed to teach students the responsibilities of a good citizen. The students gain hands-on experience as they learn about city, county, and state levels of government.

Six Massillon Washington High School students represented Massillon at Buckeye Girls State and Buckeye Boys State during the Summer of 2015. These students included:

Sidney Haines
Kaylee Ramsey
Rebekah Sorensen
Noah Brant
Cooper Rice
Nathan Ruth
Ethan Weinberg

Th students were selected after they received nominations from their school and went through an interview process held by the American Legion.

"This was the largest group we've had attend," said Washington High School social studies teacher, Wendy Snodgrass. "I try to select students that have an interest in Government."

Massillon students said that they learned how to work together to complete a common goal during their time at Buckeye Girls State and Buckeye Boys State. The friendships that they made with students from other schools are very valuable to each of them.
