Last year, Whittier celebrated being “blue”, that is the honor of being a Blue Ribbon School. This year, we are adding a new color to the spectrum…GREEN. Whittier students, staff and parents are recycling papers and cardboard through the River Valley Paper Company out of Akron. Every classroom is pitching in to recycle papers so there is less waste. Staff and parents are adding to our collection by recycling newspapers from home. Every little bit helps to save the environment plus earn us money for school projects.
River Valley Paper Company has been in business for 20 years and is dedicated to promoting recycling, saving our natural resources and teaching our youth about having a greener future. For more information and to read some interesting facts about how much recycling does for our environment visit their website at www.rivervalleypaper.com. If you have newspapers, phone books, magazines, brown paper bags, catalog, mail, cardboard and office/school paper, bring them to Whittier and place them in the green bin on our basketball court. You will be helping Whittier School as well as the environment.
