MASSILLON, OHIO –June 15, 2018 – The Massillon City School District has announced it has hired David Lautenschleger as the new principal at Massillon Washington High School. He will be replacing Paul Salvino who will now serve as the Massillon City Schools Superintendent. Lautenschleger comes to Massillon from the Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia, where he served as the Special Education Coordinator. He has also served as assistant principal at Claymont High School and New Philadelphia High School as well as the Dean of Students at Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools."I feel very humbled and I look forward to following the leadership of Mr. Salvino," said Lautenschleger. “He has spoken very highly of his staff I look forward to continuing to serve the kids and the staff here on a long term basis."Lautenschleger received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education from Grove City College. He received his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Ashland University. "I reached out to Mr. Lautenschleger because of his reputation and skill set as well as the enthusiasm he has for kids," said Superintendent, Paul Salvino. "I have no doubt that Dave will bring his passion, skill set and drive to Washington High School."

The Massillon Board of Education announced it has hired Paul Salvino as the new Superintendent for the Massillon City School District. Salvino will officially begin his new role on August 1, however he will be in the office serving as Superintendent Select throughout the summer months. The 2018-2019 school year will mark his 14th year in school administration. Salvino had previously served as the Washington High School principal for the 2017-2018 school year. Prior to coming to Massillon, he served as the Jackson Memorial Middle School principal since 2010. He also spent three years as assistant principal and two years as principal of Claymont High School in the Claymont City Schools. Salvino is a 1997 Washington High School graduate. He also spent three years teaching seventh-grade science and social studies at Longfellow Middle School. Salvino plans to introduce goal areas for the district which he will call the “Tiger Focus”. These focus areas include safety and security, student performance, resource management, and communication/collaboration. Salvino received his Bachelor of Science in Middle Childhood Education from The University of Akron. He received his Masters of Education in Educational Administration, his principal licensure and his superintendent licensure from Ashland University.
