The Board of Education recognizes students for their outstanding work. 
SPRING FLING DANCE FOR 5TH & 6TH GRADERS
A spring fling dance will be held on Friday, March 27th, from 2-3:00 p.m. for fifth and sixth grade students.

Students must meet behavior expectations to attend (points).  No formal dress or flowers permitted.  Students may not leave the school to change for the dance.   No food or drink will be provided.  Teachers and administrators will chaperone the dance.

FREE DENTAL SEALANTS FOR 6TH GRADE STUDENTS
THE CANTON CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN AWARDED A GRANT FROM THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO PROVIDE FREE DENTAL SEALANTS TO SECOND AND SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS.

STUDENTS WILL ATTEND A PRESENTATION ON MARCH 9TH AND WILL BRING HOME PERMISSION FORMS FOR THE SEALANT PLACEMENT WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE ON APRIL 7TH.

IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION
Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 17th through March 13th, students at Massillon Intermediate/Jr. High School, grades 4-8 will be administered the PARCC and AIR Assessments, which are part of Ohio's next generation of assessments.

These assessments are computer-based for math, language arts, social studies and science.  These tests are designed to give teachers, schools, parents and students useful information on how we are preparing students for their futures.  These tests are mandatory and are replacing the OAA's for grades 4-8.

Please make sure your students are in attendance during these weeks and on time for school.  Students should be well-rested and have a good breakfast before starting their day.

The following is the breakdown of grade levels and assessments they will be taking:

   Fourth Grade - Language arts, math and social studies
   Fifth Grade - Lanugage arts, math and science
   Sixth Grade - Language arts, math and social studies
   Seventh Grade - Language arts and math
   Eighth Grade - Language arts, math and science

Federal Court Instructs Ohio Districts to Post Information for Parents Concerning Data Release

A U.S. District Court has ordered that 2013-2014 school year records from the Ohio Department of Education’s Educational Management Information System be turned over to Disability Rights Ohio as part of an ongoing lawsuit.

 
New Entry Locations for Guests Announced
Beginning on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 20, there will be new entry locations for guests visiting Massillon Intermediate School (Grades 4, 5, and 6) and Massillon Junior High School (Grades 7 and 8).

MIS Guests will now enter through door number 31.
MJHS Guests will now enter through door number 2.
*Please note that guests will no longer be able to enter through door number 1.
