District Profile MDA

MDA continued to build on the previous year’s success and implement strategies to build on our strengths and improve our weaknesses. The following are a few of the accomplishments made by MDA students and staff:

  • Over 90% of MDA students advanced to the next grade level

  • Graduated a total of 19 students throughout the year (2015 - 2016)

  • Served 126 students throughout the school year in grades 4-12

  • Experience a 70% turnover rate in students throughout the school year

  • Reviewed and revised goals and procedures for the OIP

  • Increased our number of electives and the variety of electives; added two new curriculum options; a total of 4 options: (GPA, Acellus, Plato, FLVS)

  • Increased attendance by 10%-utilizing the services and procedures of our attendance officer and improved communication plan

  • Offered 3-4 days weekly in math and science tutoring to all students.

  • Special Education services included home instruction and special tutoring services for 24 students

  • Utilized MAP testing (NWEA) grades 9-12; two times during the year as per ODE requirement for DORP schools

  • Summer school was provided for students for acceleration and intervention; enrollment was 88 students served

  • Utilized a new home internet filtering device through Kajeet for all students

We are pleased with these accomplishments. While we need to work on Gap Closing, we are pleased with the number of students achieving at MDA. We continue to believe that MDA provides our students and community with a sound alternative to the traditional classroom setting.
